Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists consider the body as a whole, rather than just focusing on the individual aspects of an injury or illness.

Some of the main approaches used by physiotherapists include:
education and advice – physiotherapists can give general advice about things that can affect your daily lives, such as posture and correct lifting or carrying techniques to help prevent injuries
movement, tailored exercise and physical activity advice – exercises may be recommended to improve your general health and mobility, and to strengthen specific parts of your body
manual therapy – where the physiotherapist uses their hands to help relieve pain and stiffness, and to encourage better movement of the body

Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy

We also have an MSK Specialist who can visit you at home or in a clinic setting to help you with conditions that cause pain, stiffness, weakness, pins and needles or other symptoms. These types of problems can result in difficulty with daily tasks, sleep, work, leisure or sport.

Musculoskeletal conditions include problems with muscles, joints, tendons, discs, nerves and bones for example in the back or neck, shoulders, elbows and hands or hips, knees and feet. Problems may occur without any apparent cause or be related to other reasons e.g. postural strain; age changes; arthritis; following sport and leisure activity injuries (e.g. sprains, strains, tendonitis) or following broken bones or fractures or after surgery.
